To keep our students’ math skills sharp over the summer months, families are required to purchase Summer Solutions for Mathematics workbooks for their children entering Grades 1 - 8. These workbooks will review what the students have learned and prevent learning loss.
Students Entering Grades 1- 4
This summer, we encourage all students to spend some time reading! Books may be fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, read independently, or read together with a family member…we just hope that you have fun reading! Keep track of any books you read this summer, using the Reading Log. There is no required amount of books for the Reading Log, but we encourage you to use it to see your progress!
Summer Reading Assignment:
Students entering Grades1-4 will complete one assigned book and character postcard writing activity. Please see the book/book series assigned for each grade level. This writing activity should be completed & brought into your child's teacher and will become your child's baseline writing sample for the new school year.
Entering Grades 1 - 4
Students Entering Grades 5 - 8
Each student is required to read at least one book over the summer break. The list of books is attached for your grade level. For any of the books that you read, you may fill in the graphic organizer. You will use this information the first week of school to develop your BASELINE Writing piece. You may read any number of books that you wish, and you can complete an organizer for them. Then in September, you can choose the book to use for your Writing. Happy Reading!
